CUSTOMIZATION
Ford F-150

When choosing a truck, you want one that’s designed specifically to your liking. It should fit your personality and your needs on the jobsite. Luckily, both the F-150 and the Tacoma offer a litany of options to give you a truck that suits your style.

A Truck That Fits You

The Ford F-150 and the Toyota Tacoma are both available in several cab styles. The Tacoma offers an Access Cab and a larger Double Cab with its seating capacity ranging from four to five passengers.

The seating capacity of the F-150 ranges from three to six, thanks to its greater variety of cab styles. They include:

  • Regular Cab
  • SuperCab
  • SuperCrew
Powertrain Options

The Ford F-150 is available with seven engines, so you’ll be able to customize your truck to provide the specific blend of power and efficiency you need. The Tacoma, on the other hand, has just three engines available.

Both trucks come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer available 4-wheel drive. They also offer different standard transmissions. In the Tacoma, you only get a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the F-150 comes with a noticeably smoother 10-speed automatic transmission. The higher gear ratio also helps this truck be a more capable towing vehicle.

PERFORMANCE
Ford F-150

A greater selection of engines also makes the Ford F-150 the superior performance truck. It’s ready to overpower the competition and give you an edge on the jobsite and the trails. Let’s get a closer look at what kind of numbers these trucks bring to the table.

Experience the Power

The F-150 can deliver up to 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque when equipped with its most powerful engine: the available High-Output Supercharged 5.2L V8. The highest output you’ll get with the Tacoma comes from its 3.5-liter V6, which can only manage 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.

You’ll also be able to personalize the performance of your truck with their selectable drive modes. The Multi-Terrain Select of the Tacoma comes with five modes, while the F-150 is available with up to seven drive modes starting with Normal and ECO, and continuing with modes like:

  • Sport
  • Tow/Haul
  • Deep Snow/Sand
  • Mud/Ruts
  • Rock Crawl
Go Hybrid

If you’re looking for an extra dose of efficiency to go with all that power, you can choose a hybrid powertrain. It’s only available with the Ford F-150. The available 3.5L PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6 boasts 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. The Toyota Tacoma is only available with traditional gas-powered engines.

TOWING
Ford F-150

When it’s time to get down to business, the Ford F-150 and the Toyota Tacoma are ready to get to work. Whether you’re hitching up your trailer or loading up the truck bed.

Get the Job Done

The Ford F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds when properly equipped, which far outmatches the 6,800-pound maximum towing capacity of the Tacoma. If you have a trailer full of heavy lumber that needs to be transported, the Ford F-150 is your best bet.

You’ll find a similar difference in the payload capabilities of each truck as well. The Toyota Tacoma can only handle a maximum 1,685-pound payload capacity when properly equipped. If you plan on filling the truck bed with a lot more, you’ll want to turn to the F-150. It boasts a maximum payload capacity of 3,325 pounds.

Park Like a Pro

When it comes time to park your trailer, the Ford F-150 goes above and beyond. It’s available with Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, which makes parking as easy as turning a dial. Simply, rotate it in the direction you want the trailer to go, and your truck will handle the steering. The Tacoma doesn't offer a comparable feature.
